Nothing here is tuned by hand. You give it a height and a time to the top, and the gravity and the launch speed are solved from those. The dashed line in the room is the height you asked for; the thin line is where the last jump actually topped out.
Try this. Tick the textbook impulse and watch the flame stop reaching the dashed line, then
drag the time to the top down towards 0.1 s and watch the gap open up to more than half a tile.
The error is exactly 1/N, where N is how many sixtieths of a second the jump
spends going up, which is why a snappy jump is where it bites and a floaty one hides it.
